USNCO简单来说与我国国内高中的化学奥赛差不多，最终目的是最优秀的选手将代表美国参加International Chemistry Olympiad（IChO）国际化学奥赛（仅针对美国公民/绿卡持有者），因此这个比赛需要绿卡或者美国国籍。
成绩优秀者可以增加未来申请美国理工科专业的优势，更有机会获得国际顶级科学类活动的邀请。
一、考情分析
USNCO考点内容涵盖有机化学、无机化学、分析化学、物理化学、电化学、生物化学、实验、环保等。大部分为AP考试涉及的基本内容。
最后一部分仅5道题涉及到有机化学，偶尔会涉及到生物化学。
*从历年USNCO考卷分析综合来看，知识点覆盖中学阶段化学学科的核心知识，考点非常分散，更加需要注重的是关于知识的灵活运动以及解题技巧的准备。
二、考试题型
总共60道选择题，考试时间为110分钟，中途无休息。
考试过程与AP考试相同，会给出周期表与一些相应公式。

USNCO竞赛难度介于中学化学和大学化学之间，知识面全面，学生在准备USNCO竞赛的过程中可以同时准备SAT 2, AP, IB, A-Level 学术考试，为申请美本节约时间的同时迅速提升学术背景，事半功倍。

Stoichiometry, 包括molecule，equation，mole的计算，占比约10%
Structure of matter，包括atomic and molecular structure，bond，难点是electron configuration，electromagnetic radiation, and molecular orbital，占⽐约15%
States of matter， 包括gas, liquid, solid, and solution，难点是phase change 和 colligative property，占比约10%
Reaction type，包括double-replacement reaction and redox，难点是electrochemistry，占比约15%
Thermochemistry，包括enthalpy, entropy, and free energy，占比约10%
